Expansion gaps are small spaces left around room perimeters and obstacles to allow flooring materials to expand and contract with temperature and humidity changes. For LVP and laminate flooring, gaps around seven to ten millimeters prevent buckling or warping. These gaps are hidden beneath baseboards or transition strips for a seamless appearance.
